What I'm Doing...

Archive for March, 2009

I’m always looking for a new project and came across this thread on the ReRanch forums. The builder did a great job on this Firebird and was kind enough to document and share it. The finished product looks fantastic, I can only dream about having access to a CNC machine. Check it out!

The Allman Brothers played a bunch of nights at the Beacon here in NYC to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Unfortunately I couldn’t score tickets, but thanks to YouTube we can all watch some of the fun. That being said, I’m sure a DVD will be released sometime in the near future. Enjoy! Little Wing Layla

Charvel Custom Colors

Charvel is back with another batch of custom colors for the production line. I’m a fan of color and Charvel has always done it right. The candy plum with the black hardware and maple neck is what I’m jonesing for… Rock and Roll 80s style!

Gibson Tribal V

D’Addario Strings.. for me

Here at the shop I only use D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings on all my guitars. I have tried almost all the others over the years, but I always come back to D’Addario. For me the XL Nickels are bright, but not over the top bright. What I notice most about the strings is the [...]

PRS SE Soapbar II

I won’t bother you with the details like a solid mahogany body, set mahogany neck, 2 specially designed soapbar  pickups, and a PRS-designed stoptail bridge. You will find this info anywhere. The beauty of this ax is its sound , feel and finish. If you are just starting out or know someone looking for a inexpensive [...]

If you’re looking for a good introduction to guitar tube amplifiers look no further. This is a follow-up to my last book added to my shop library. The book gets very detailed with design and has instructions on how to build an amp. Plus a few interviews with some impressive amp builders. I know this [...]
